For example, if you believe that it is impossible to lose weight, why do you believe that? You will find out that the reasons are as ridiculous as your ridiculous thoughts!

    3. Fill your mind with positive thoughts:

    Fill your mind with new, positive thoughts. Stop telling yourself that you will ‘try’ to lose weight; instead, say: ‘I WILL lose weight, no matter what others tell me. I WILL lose weight because I want to look good and feel better. I WILL lose weight so that no one can ever point a finger at my belly’. Giving such specific and strong instructions to your mind will help you lose weight very quickly!

    Thing You Need to Know Before You Lose Body Fat

    First of all, what is weight loss? It sounds a silly question but it is not.  Weight reflects much more than body fat (i.e. it can be bone, muscle or organ weight) and some diets like low carb diet make you lose pounds but actually make you lose muscles not lose body fat (will be discussed in my later articles)  We must define that weight loss is about fat loss first.  Keep this in your mind, it will guide you at the right direction in your journey of fat loss.

    How to achieve fat loss or how to lose body fat? Losing weight is a life changing process by changing your habits.  But what are habits?  Habits are defined as the intersection of knowledge, skills and desire by Stephen Covey, the author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  Knowledge is the what to do and the why.  Skill is the how to do.  And desire is the motivation, the want to do.  “In order to make something a habit in our lives, we have to have all three.” Covey said.

    So ask yourself : “Do I have these three?”  Or  “Do I have the knowledge of losing weight?”  “Do you know how to lose fat or lose pounds?”  ” Do I have the desire for fat loss or change”?

    You always can learn the knowledge and the skills from experts but you can not learn the desire, it is yours, and no one can impose it on you.  Unless you have the desire to have an new habit it won’t be a habit in your life.  It’s a change that has to be motivated by a higher purpose.

    So what is the first thing you need to do to start your fat loss journey?  Many people would say it is goal setting but this is not what I suggest, because we need to look for the higher purpose first.  A goal without motivation or purpose can hardly be achieved no matter how good a goal you set.

    Covey also said, “We are more in need of a vision or destination and a compass (set of principles or directions) and less in need of a road map”.  By knowing you are on a mission to achieve something and being someone in your life, you have clear vision and are highly motivated.  The road to your destination would not be always smooth.  If you only have a goal but no a purpose - the desire, or a purpose not higher enough, you would stop in the front of obstacles.  That’s the one of the biggest reasons many people failed to lose fat.  Of cause, there are some other reasons which caused the failure such as an ineffective diet plan or diets like low carb diet (will be discussed in my later articles).

    What you need to do now is to think about something that would make you feel good or make your life better after you lose pounds.  It can be a healthier you, a leaner body, a job you wanted, a nice smaller size of dress, a girl you wanted to approach, :-) a social event you wanted to attend, and it can be all of these because weight loss can effect many areas of your life.   Are they valuable to you?  Ultimately we want what we want because they make us feel good and they are valuable to us.  :-) So what will make you feel good or make your life better when you have them after losing the pounds or you lose the body fat.

    After you find them close your eyes, visualize a thinner you surrounded by the things you wanted and feel the good feelings for as long as you can.  And do this visualization everyday and this feeling will companion you on your journey until you arrive the destination - you crossed the finish line!  And how would that make you feel?  I heard you saying Feel great!  - That’s it!  That’s what we all wanted. :-)

    Now you know that losing weight is a life change by changing your habits.  Changing habits has to be motivated by higher purposes.  So finding a purpose to lose body fat is most important for you to succeed in your fat loss journey.

    The next thing is goal setting, finding a compass that can guide you in the right direction such as fat loss guidelines, tips and a good map -a  healthy diet plan (not low carb diet) then implementing the plan, and getting the results -losing the pounds.

    If you want to lose pounds, there are a couple important things you have to keep in mind. Firstly, regular dieting and weight loss will usually not help you lose weight. You can’t just keep track of you calories and make sure they’re low, and then go out and exercise expecting to lose lots and lots of weight. In some cases, that might work. If it does, your one of the lucky ones. If not, you don’t have to worry, because there are a couple things you have to do if you want to lose weight pounds and keep the weight off for the future.

    First off, do not sign up for a diet plan. They are just in it to make money and will charge you on average about $500 to $600 for the first month then about $250 a month thereafter. They hope after you order their food, you will forget to follow through with the diet or make minor mistakes and end up losing a little weight but immediately gain it back due to the fact that they don’t help you keep weight off. They just show you how to lower your caloric intake which can be ruined if you don’t know how to handle the adjustment. This is not the way to lose weight pounds.

    Second, do not buy pills. They just don’t work, although their interesting sales pitch on TV can be pretty convincing. They might take some weight off but they don’t stop the causes of weight, which is high caloric intake, hormone imbalance which causes irregular metabolism, and other problems such as low physical activity. They would take some weight off which would be put back on by the lifestyle acts you perform everyday and the lifestyle acts that made you overweight in the first place. If you want to lose weight pounds, you have to get rid of the source of the problem and not cover it up.

    Thirdly, make sure you understand the difference between building abs and lowering fat. Many programs out there promise you that you can get amazing abs in a couple days by using their amazing products. The problem is, your fat would still be covering up those muscles.     Finally, find ways to burn small amounts of calories by tweaking little daily chores that are needed to be done everyday. Believe it or not, trying on clothes can burn calories. Next time your shopping just try on a couple outfits, preferably around 5-7, and then just put them back. Anytime your sitting still, try little things like extending your legs and arms until they feel tired, then return them back to the original position. Repeat this process over and over to burn calories. The will eventually add up which can play a huge role in your drive to lose weight pounds. Replacing salads with a clear broth soup at restaurants can save you sometimes hundreds of calories on dressings. This will also make you feel fuller, which will allow you to eat less of your main meal which could be quite fattening. Eating less sugar will force your body to use fat cells as a long lasting source of energy instead of the quick boost you would get from a couple grams of sugar.

    So all in all, don’t buy the promoted garbage that you see on television these days because the people selling them to you say so. They are just trying to make a profit and don’t always mean what they say. If you want to use a product you saw on TV make sure you get an unbiased decision.
